The Butler Center for Service and Leadership provides students with a wide range of programs, events and office initiatives to get UM students involved!

The Butler Center is home to over 35 service-based student organizations that any UM undergraduate student may join at any time. Our office also has a number of affiliated student organizations at UM that have missions and goals that align with those of the Butler Center. Additionally, we provide students a number of leadership opportunities through many different programs and events throughout the year. Participating in one of the service and leadership programming boards also allows students to get first-hand experience in planning and developing these programs.

The Butler Center also provides a number of opportunities for students outside of student organizations. Service days are among the most popular events at UM. On these days, UM students serve in various ways throughout the local community. The Butler Center also hosts service and leadership conferences and symposiums throughout the year that focus on service and leadership. Many of these events are the catalyst for underclassmen involvement on campus. To fully immerse students into service and leadership, living and learning communities have been developed for undergraduate students interested in unique service opportunities.

Please send us an email at leadandserve@miami.edu for a list of volunteer opportunities, student organizations and community partners. The Butler Center offers resources for students interested in volunteerism and service learning and also provides opportunities for students and student organizations to develop leadership skills and get involved in service in the Miami-Dade area. The city of Miami and its diverse cultures provide UM students many ways to get directly involved in making a difference in the lives of others.
